Before and during holidays, particularly Labor Day and Christmas/New Year, TxDOT and local law enforcement step up the enforcement of impaired driving laws. These campaigns are proven to work. What makes them work is the increased messages in the media and elsewhere that tell people law enforcement is out there, everywhere. Media events tell the public when, where, how and why the impaired driving laws are being enforced.
Employers can help ensure effective prevention by doing employee education at the same time as the TxDOT Impaired Driving campaign.
